Materials:
Powerpoint cover the main content and vocabulary of the unit
Assessment form
Lesson:
Begin the day by using a Powerpoint to review the main concepts from the unit. Make sure to cover all vocabulary and concepts required in the SOL Framework Sheet. Answer any questions students have and address any topics that students struggled with during the unit.
Once you feel confident that you have reviewed everything with the students to the best of your ability, pass out the final unit assessment. This can be a worksheet with several sections to review each main concept. For needs, have pictures of things a plant does and doesn't need to survive, followed by the same for an animal. Have kids circle the pictures of things each one needs to survive. A section on plant parts can be a simple diagram where students need to fill in the name of each part. Finally, for classification, have students list two ways that plants can be classified followed by two ways that animals can be classified. An example of such an assessment can be found below.
Differentiation:
There is no differentiation for this lesson since all students need to have a full grasp on the concepts and be able to pass the assessment.
